Jane Scott Stuart is an American born author living in the scenic highlands of Scotland. Her debut novel Not In This World — a multi-category finalist in the American Legacy Book Awards — draws on real-life experiences to tell a powerful and deeply human story.

Set against the backdrop of 1930s Kentucky, WW II and beyond, the novel follows Paul — later affectionately known as Paw-Paw — a young black man grappling with his identity and sexuality, alongside Jane herself — a white child of privilege growing up in the segregated American South. As their lives intertwine, an unexpected and profound relationship unfolds — one that challenges prejudice, transcends boundaries, and speaks to a kind of connection the world is still learning to understand today.

Jane is married to the younger son of a Scottish Earl she met at McGill University, now her literary critic and beloved companion of over seventy years.
